Good Company sits at 2273 Broadway, between West 81st and 82nd Streets — right in the heart of one of Manhattan's most walkable, livable neighborhoods. Whether you're stopping by before dinner, after a stroll through the park, or on a lazy weekend afternoon, there's always something worth exploring nearby.

Here's our neighborhood guide to the best restaurants, coffee shops, parks, cultural landmarks, and everyday errands within a few blocks of our door. Think of it as the UWS starter pack — from a store that's proud to call this neighborhood home.

Coffee & Morning Stops

Need a pick-me-up before or after your visit? These spots are all within a short walk.

Levain Bakery

2-minute walk · W 74th St

The legendary cookies that launched a thousand Instagram posts. The dark chocolate peanut butter chip is the move. Grab one for the road — you'll thank us later.

Joe Coffee Company

5-minute walk · W 85th St & Columbus

Reliable, excellent coffee from a beloved NYC local chain. Perfect spot to sit, sip, and people-watch on Columbus Avenue.

Hungarian Pastry Shop

15-minute walk · Amsterdam Ave at 111th

A Columbia University institution since 1961. No Wi-Fi, no pretense — just good pastries, strong coffee, and the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to stay for hours.

For a quick grab-and-go, there are also several excellent delis and bodegas right on Broadway within a block of our store — perfect for a snack run if the munchies hit.

Parks & Green Spaces

The Upper West Side is defined by its green spaces. We're sandwiched between two of the best.

Central Park

7-minute walk east · Enter at W 81st St

It's Central Park — you know the deal. From our store, the closest entry puts you right near the Delacorte Theater, Belvedere Castle, and the Great Lawn. Walk east on 81st and you're there in under 10 minutes. Perfect for a post-visit nature walk.

Riverside Park

8-minute walk west · Enter at W 83rd St

Less crowded than Central Park and just as beautiful. The waterfront path along the Hudson is ideal for a mellow sunset stroll. There are benches, gardens, and playgrounds along the way. Enter at 83rd Street and head toward the river.

Theodore Roosevelt Park

5-minute walk · W 79th St & Columbus

The small but lovely park surrounding the American Museum of Natural History. Sit on a bench under the elms, enjoy the scenery, and watch museum-goers stream in and out.

Pro tip: Central Park's Naturalists' Garden and the Shakespeare Garden are both stunning in spring and surprisingly quiet, even on weekends. Enter at 79th and follow the paths north.

Museums & Culture

You're on one of the most culturally rich corridors in New York City. All of these are a short walk or quick subway ride from our door.

American Museum of Natural History

5-minute walk · Central Park West at 79th St

Dinosaurs, the Hayden Planetarium, the Rose Center for Earth and Space. One of the world's great museums, and it's practically our neighbor. Plan for at least 2-3 hours.

New-York Historical Society

5-minute walk · Central Park West at 77th St

Often overlooked in favor of its giant neighbor across the street, the Historical Society has excellent rotating exhibitions on NYC history, art, and culture. The gift shop is great too.

The Beacon Theatre

8-minute walk · Broadway at 74th St

A gorgeous Beaux-Arts concert venue on Broadway that hosts everyone from comedians to rock legends. Check their schedule — catching a show at the Beacon is a quintessential UWS experience.

Lincoln Center

15-minute walk south or 1 stop on the 1 train

The performing arts capital of America. The Metropolitan Opera, NYC Ballet, Jazz at Lincoln Center, the New York Philharmonic — all right here. Many performances offer rush tickets or free open rehearsals.

Restaurants & Dinner Spots

The UWS dining scene ranges from classic neighborhood joints to destination-worthy restaurants. Here are a few we love near the store.

Jacob's Pickles

3-minute walk · Amsterdam Ave at 84th St

Southern comfort food in generous portions. The buttermilk biscuits and fried chicken are legendary. Weekend brunch lines are real, but worth it.

Celeste

5-minute walk · Amsterdam Ave at 84th St

A tiny, cash-only Italian gem that locals guard fiercely. Simple, beautiful pastas and pizzas at prices that feel like a time warp. Get there early — they don't take reservations.

Barney Greengrass

6-minute walk · Amsterdam Ave at 86th St

The "Sturgeon King" has been serving smoked fish, bagels, and eggs since 1908. A true UWS institution. Go for the nova Scotia lox platter on a weekend morning.

Shake Shack — UWS

4-minute walk · Columbus Ave at 77th St

Danny Meyer's burger empire started as a hot dog cart. The UWS location is reliably fast and satisfying — a solid choice when you want something quick after shopping.
